I will be eternally disgruntled at Mercury for releasing "The Call: The Best of the Mercury Years" on cd, and never releasing their first three albums on cd. While Best of the Mercury Years is a great cd and does indeed contain a huge number of songs -- most of what you'd find on their first three albums -- there are key songs that are missing and have never been released on cd. Bandits, for example, one of my favorite anti-war songs. Luckily for me I have their original albums still, I need to get around to digitizing some of my old albums one of these days.
In the meantime, The Call hasn't really existed as a band for many years. They dont have a web site really (Wikipedia links to a truly ugly Tripod thing). But they were a great new wave / alternative band of the 1980's and into the early 1990's, one of my favorites. The Walls Came Down was their first real hit song, from their second album Modern Romans, and you can find it on iTunes as a result. (It's on a couple of "the best of" collections which frankly aren't even as good as Best of the Mercury Years, but even that cd isn't found on iTunes.)
Other than that, I can offer a link to Michael Been's web site, and to a couple of videos of theirs. I really expected to find a video for The Walls Came Down on Youtube but no luck. It is still, to this day, a great song though.
