For some reason it feels like I did nothing today, when I know very well that that's not true. My big project of the day was to move my computer desk setup from the desk near the computer room door to the desk near the window. Having decided to get rid of one of my two desks, and having realized that the one by the window would be harder to get out of the room, it occured to me that really, I should have my computer table by the window where I can look outside when it's nice and sunny.

This was a big project. I have two computers hooked up via a kvm switch to a keyboard/monitor/mouse. Therefore I have power plugs for each computer, for the monitor, cords for the keyboard/monitor/mouse to the kvm switch and to each computer, two sets of speakers with speaker cords and power cords, the second of which also has a sub woofer to attach to, two network cords, a desk fan and a desk lamp, each with power cords of course, and my iPod docking patch cord. There was a headphone set tangled up in there too that I don't even use.

After untangling everything, migrating it, cleaning off the desks, and hooking everything back up, I put up a Craig's List post about the desk and other things I wanted to get rid of. I got exactly one call about the desk. They came and looked at it, but decided it was too big. In retrospect I probably posted too late on a Sunday to generate much interest, but that's okay because [livejournal.com profile] kehf decided that she wanted the desk and it was still available.

I played some City of Heroes. I made lunch. I did laundry. I cleaned up a bit. I played some more. I went to the store and got groceries and made dinner, and played some more. In the end, I did play CoH much of the day, so in that respect I wasted the day. But I got a lot accomplished as well.

At Fred Meyers I took the advice of [livejournal.com profile] miertam and picked up a game for my laptop. He reccomended Neverwinter Nights. However, I already own that game, and it wasn't what I was imagining I wanted... I wanted something more up-to-date graphics wise. So I got Neverwinter Nights 2.

At home I opened the box and was astonished to realize the game comes on 7 cds. Seven! What exactly were the requirements for this game anyway? (I hadn't bothered to check.) It turns out the game is incredibly resource intensive. My laptop barely meets the minimum requirements for the game, and the reccomended requirements are well beyond it (at least a 3.0 ghz pentium 4 reccomended). Needless to say, I didn't bother installing it on my laptop, although I did install it on my gaming machine. We'll see how well it runs on that; it's an Athlon 64, although I don't remember exactly how fast.

In the meantime I located my Neverwinter Nights (version 1) box in the closet. It was empty. I dug around and located the discs for the game. The Play Disc was not with the other discs, and was not in a protective sleeve. It was scratched. It turned out to be unusable, so after installing the game, I wasn't able to complete the instalation.

Bleah.

I also decided to install Dungeon Keeper 2 since it's a fun game. I had the box. It was empty. Why am I keeping all of these empty gaming boxes in my closet, again?

Anyway I couldn't locate that game, so screw that idea. I'm reduced to maybe installing Dungeon Siege, American McGee's Alice, or maybe Morrowind. Or finding another play disc or another copy of Neverwinter Nights, which I admit I always liked.

Of course, I just realized that my American McGee's Alice game box is also empty. Apparently I own a lot of game boxes but very few games.

Ah well. So much for Sunday!
