Today's Song: Touched by V.A.S.T.

V.A.S.T. stands for Visual Audio Sensory Theater, and is essential a one-man project. Well, like any successful one-man project, there's now a full band so they can go on tour. But you get the idea.

V.A.S.T. does alternative pop with unusual sampling and soundscape. For example, many songs on their first cd sample world music and American folk (one song samples some kind of African American work song, I think). Touched is easily the best track from their first cd, although I like the whole cd quite a bit. It's also their most popular song, period, and well worth checking out. Kind of a spooky song, the band tends toward goth themes I guess you'd say, although in fact Jon Crosby does seem to write on Christian themes as well. But this song in particular is about being in love with someone who isn't all there, mentally. ^_^
