Billy Corrigan of the Smashing Pumpkins is a genius at making the kind of rock that I love. This song, from their new (as yet unreleased cd) rocks. 'Nuff said.
Doomsday Clock (youtube video)
Doomsday Clock (home made video using Simpsons footage, frankly not only better than the official one linked above (which has no actual video) but probably a better video than anything they could come up with for an official video.
Additional note: The new Smashing Pumpkins is missing guitarist James Iha and bassist D'Arcy from the original classic Pumpkins lineup, although their old drummer is present. I think it's funny though that some fans claim that "it doesn't sound like the Smashing Pumpkins" and "How can they use that name?" with Iha and D'Arcy missing. Does anyone remember that, according to many reports, Corrigan recorded virtually all the guitar and bass parts himself for their release Siamese Dream?
I mean, really. The Smashing Pumpkins sound has always been exactly what Billy Corrigan wants it to be, neither more nor less.
