I can tell because for the last three nights, when I left work I was glad to have my coat on.

Mind you, I leave work after midnight... but most of this summer it hasn't mattered whether my coat was on or not.

Tried to play EQ the last three days. Every night they're doing a patch at 3 am, which allows me to play for about an hour and that's it.

Last night I popped "Spinal Tap" in the dvd player and watched it. It comes with a TON of material that was cut from the film... unlike a normal film, but very like a true concert film, they filmed all kinds of stuff and then only used what was really funny. There are many many many scenes and whole storylines that didn't even make it into the film, like for example David St. Hubbins's girlfriend hires a replacement guitarist after Nigel Tufnel leaves, and the guy turns out to be incredibly talented and better looking than David and a big stage hog... he's not even in the actual film.

But the most fun is the commentary track, with David Nigel and Derek. I hadn't watched it that way before... they're in character, as the three band members commenting on this movie made of their concert tour 15-18 years ago. They talk about how much their manager lied to them and how the film director (Rob Riener aka "Marty Di Bergi") did a hatchet job on them. Very funny stuff, and like the film I'm fairly convinced that it's mostly ad lib. In the scene where he's asking them about their past drummers, they're saying things like, "See, he's setting us up, making fun of a really depressing topic." "I actually think he knows the answers to the questions before he even asks them." "Well you can tell we weren't prepared for the questions, but look, he has all his notes down on a clipboard, he's got it all planned out." "You're right, should have been our first clue that he was setting us up."

And then one of them, Derek I think, keeps pointing out people who have died since the film was made. He starts with Sir Thomas St Hog (if I remember the name correctly) who was the big shot head of Polymer Records. The other band members aren't convinced that the guy is really dead. Then he keeps pointing out dead people, until he's reached the point where he's just pointing out random people in the background, like a waitress at a fast food restaurant they're being interviewed at, and saying, "she's dead now", and then the other two are like, "No she's not! How could you possibly know that?"

And there's and interview with Marti Di Bergi, who's all bitter about the film and angry that his film making career has gone nowhere since then... and then he begs Hollywood producers to give him another chance. Even has a short clip where the band is holding a press conference to denounce the film. Very funny. ^_^

Anyway, it's surprising how much this stupid stuff amuses me. I wish they'd done a film of their whole "Break Like The Wind" tour. ^_^
