Jul. 12th, 2007 11:12 pmToday's Song: Heatwave by Linda Rhonstadt
A day late and a dollar short, as they say. Yesterday was our big heatwave, 97 degrees roughly. Today was much cooler. I was going to reccomend the original version by Martha Reeves and the Vandellas, and by all means don't let me stop you from picking up that version, but I saw that Linda Rhonstadt has a version of this song on iTunes (actually, she has several versions of the song, not sure if they're just from different greatest hits or if any of them are live versions). I like Linda and she's good at covering old tunes, and her version is more often downloaded than even the Martha Reeves version, so you probably can't go wrong with either.
Martha Reeves & the Vandellas - Heatwave
Martha Reeves & the Vandellas - Dancing In the Streets
Martha Reeves & the Vandellas - Jimmy Mack
Can't never go wrong with Martha Reeves. ^_^
I was actually going to do a mix of hot summer songs but I didn't get very far. It would have included Too Hot to Think by Boom Crash Opera, Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves, Inside a Fireball by Hunters & Collectors, The Dead Heart by Midnight Oil, Mississippi by June Tabor and the Oyster Band, Roam by the B52's, No Rain by Blind Melon, and I don't know what else.
