Today's Song: Feels Like Summer by Sing Sing
I was listening to music today and for some reason the song Steve Taylor - Jim Morrison's Grave popped into my head. This is one of those songs that I haven't listened to in many years, but it was such a good song that I never grew tired of it. I wanted to put it on my iPod immediately. Unfortunately, I don't own Taylor's album I Predict 1990 on cd; I only have it on vinyl (this should tell you how long it's been since I listened to the song). Worse still, this particular cd is not one of the Taylor cds available on iTunes. Which is sad -- his early stuff was fun but it was really I Predict 1990 that showed Taylor at his very best, with biting satire and great insight and observations on the world in general. As one reviewer on Amazon put it, it's a Christian album that pisses off most so-called Christians, because Steve Taylor isn't afraid to speak the truth and call a spade a spade. For example, the song I Blew Up the Clinic Real Good about bombing abortion clinics. In that sense he's got a lot in common with Terry Taylor of Daniel Amos / Swirling Eddies / Lost Dogs.
Anyway, Jim Morrison's Grave is just a cool song. Check out the link above and see for yourself. I just ordered the cd from Amazon so I'll have it in cd format, it's out of print but I could still get it used for around $10 so that's good.
In the meantime, I've linked to this video before but I picked a different song of their last time to feature. As it turns out, Feels Like Summer by Sing Sing has become my favorite song of theirs, and it's a perfect song for the middle of Summer. Funny I didn't even think to add it to my "songs of Summer" playlist that I never completed last week.
