Today's Song: You Can't Save Everybody by Kane & Welch
Last week This American Life did a show on the theme of "Who Can You Save?". At the end of the show they played a short piece of a blues song with a chorus that went, "You can't save everybody, everybody don't wanna be saved."
I liked this song the moment I heard it, and on the assumption that the title was "You Can't Save Everybody" I looked it up on iTunes. It's the title song from an album by blues musicians Kieran Kane of New York and Kevin Welch of Oklahoma along with Fats Kaplan.
I can't link you to a video for this song but actually there's a myspace page for Kane, Welch, and Kaplan, who have two cds out now, and they have You Can't Save Everybody up there for you to listen to. There's nothing particularly fantastic about this song or their other music, but it's very nice American roots/blues music. I like their other songs too. Take a listen to Postcards From Mexico or Flycatcher Jack or Monkey Jump. Good stuff.
