Today's Song: Bird Flu by M.I.A.

Since I ran across her yesterday (in this mash-up video of her rap song Bucky Done Gun with Funkytown by Lipps, Inc) I thought I might feature something from British/Sri Lankan rapper mc M.I.A.. Rap isn't normally my thing but I'm familiar with M.I.A. because my comic dealer, Gabriel, lent me her cd last year. He liked it and I found it interesting. M.I.A. is truly an International rapper with one foot in the Western world and one foot in the third world. If I remember correctly, her father is a member of the Tamil Tigers rebel group back in Sri Lanka. Because of where she's from she often has a little more to say than your typcial party-down American rapper, and she incorporates a lot of the music from her background into her beats too.
