Today's Song: Slentbjenn by Hoven Droven

I could probably pick any song at all from Hoven Droven to feature, and it would be a good one. My favorite is Slentbjenn (Slope-Bear) from their first cd Groove. The live version found on Youtube isn't exactly the same, but it's certainly close enough. A live version of this song also appears on their newest (live) cd, Jumping At The Cedar. Hmmm, I really need to get that cd.

Hoven Droven are a mostly instrumental band from Sweden that really put the rock in folk-rock. Their name means something akin to "Helter Skelter". I remember skyoxford was with me when I discovered them at Tower Records, and someone else, I can't remember -- maybe jeffreycornish. In any case I bought the cd on a whim, thinking that it looked like great Scandinavian folk rock. Before we'd driven a mile away from the store, we knew that I'd been right.

I don't actually have their two most recent cds. I should fix that.
