Today's Song: Banana Man by Tally Hall

Okay, bear in mind that I'm reccomending something from a band that I'd never heard of just an hour ago. I was reading the City of Heroes forums, and one guy had this undeniably weird and freaky animated icon. Someone commented on it, and then someone linked to the video it came from... Banana Man by Tally Hall. I watched and was dumbfounded. I've never heard of Tally Hall, but this video is compellingly weird and creepy, and they have a full cd of weirdness available on iTunes.

One reviewer compares them to Barenaked Ladies and They Might Be Giants... which makes sense to me, insomuch as Tally Hall seems to be one of those bands that is oddball in an uncatagorizable way. Also because, while they can get quite goofy, they can also morph into an uncommonly good pop band with clever lyrics. (That does sound like TMBG or BNL doesn't it?).

On their Tally Hall @ myspace page, they list their music styles as "rock, hip hop, classical". That covers a lot of ground, and doesn't even begin to explain the Banana Man song at all.

It's very clear that Tally Hall makes their own videos, and that the video creation process is an essential part of the whole creative process. That, and they're completely loony.

Actually, some of these aren't song videos at all, just strange short comedy videos.
