Today at work was Taco day. I brought & cooked the meat & seasonings. I used 4 lbs, half with pinto beans added, half without. That turned out to be a bit much -- probably could have got by with 3 lbs, we had a lot left over.

We did this for Judy, who is our temp biller who comes in when someone else is gone. Her sister Karen is one of our full time billers, and Karen's daughter Debbie is another. Anyway, Judy is never there when we have food nights, so we did this just for her, but she wasn't feeling too well tonight so she didn't eat a lot.

My keychain that I got for Christmas is falling apart. It's not even the keychain I asked for -- I wanted one of those very bright keychain lights that you find at REI. All of my friends seem to have them, and I bought one each for my mother and both my sisters last year, but forgot to buy one for myself. But I figured they would know what I was talking about if I put it on my list.

Alas, I got something different, a keychain with a very weak red light. It had a nice feature -- 5 keychaing rings that could be easily detached from the main keychain -- but it's so cheap that the spring-loaded button that allows the rings to be seperated keeps falling out, and then everything falls apart. So I need to get something better, and throw this POS one away, before I lose some of my keys permanently.

One of the EQ sites I visit had a "what 5 cds would you take to a desert island for a year?" thread. Here's my response:

This is very tough to decide.

Tori Amos, Under the Pink & Sarah McLaughlin, Fumbling Towards Ecstasy are good choices. So is Loreena McKennitt, Book of Secrets and Primus's Brown Albumn.

Zooropa? Bleah, that's almost as bad as Pop Mart. Two of their worst ever. For U2 I'd go with War. Or anything besides Zooropa and Pop Mart. ^_^

Okay here we are:

1. Anton Bruckner, Symphony 8, Jochum conducting.
2. King's X, Gretchen Goes to Nebraska
3. Varttina, Illmatar
4. Loreena McKennitt, Book of Secrets
5. Lush, Ciao! 1989-1996 (Greatest Hits).

The problem is, no greatest hits cd ever gets it right imo. I'd want to assemble my own Lush greatest hits, and for that matter my own greatest hits collection of Feel So Bad. You know, I love both bands but I don't know if either has made an albumn that was brilliant from beginning to end.

Bleah, I want to add Ruth MacKenzie's Kalevala too! What gives? Usually they let you take 10 cds to a desert island!

Varttina has a new cd coming out on March 12. It's a live cd. It's been out for a year outside the US, as per usual.

Flogging Molly has a new cd coming out in March too. They have an older, live cd that you can order from their website.

Tempest is playing at Wild Buffalo in Bellingham on Saturday March 9, 8:30 pm, and at the Tractor Tavern in Ballard Sunday March 10, 8 pm. I'm going to the Tractor Tavern show. ^_^ Who else wants to come?

They have a new cd, Balance, out too.

They are in Ashland March 6, Eugene March 7, and Yakima March 8 if anyone cares.
