I've been very erratic with the song a day post thing. Originally I figured I could do a song a day for at least a year no problems, but now I'm wondering if I can manage to keep it going for a full year, and if so, then what? Do I try to do it for a second year in a row?
But that's a long ways off.
Since I put it on my Magical Girl list I've been listening to this song lately. It's a nice guitar-driven rock tune from 1990. Drivin' 'n' Cryin' was an alternative rock band from Atlanta, GA. I guess I should say "is" because they're still around, although I've never really followed the band, and apparently frontman Kevin Kinney spends more time working on his solo career. I found Fly Me Courageous on MTV's 120 Minutes and fell in love with it. I got the cd, and I liked it. I've since picked up two of their other cds (the two that followed this one, Smoke and Wrapped In Sky), but nothing else of theirs ever grabbed my attention as much as this song. It was also their only real hit song ever.
I did a nice anime music video of this years ago, set to Kiki's Delivery Service. ^_^
and of course, the lines in the center have never felt more relevant:
Mother America is brandishing her weapons
She keeps me safe and warm by threats and misconceptions...
You'd think that had been written more recently than 17-18 years ago.
