Today's Song: Moonchariot by Elvenking

Since we've talked about two other Italian power metal bands (Rhapsody and Secret Sphere) and I can't talk about the best of the lot (Thy Majestie, which is not on iTunes at present), I think I'll move on to Elvenking. They are Italian metal, but not power metal so much as folk metal... in this case, mostly a metal band writing songs on Celtic and European folk music themes and stylings. It works surprisingly well, actually. You coud probably call it folk/power metal, or the kind of power metal that forest elves might listen to. ^_^

While I like Rhapsody, Secret Sphere, and Thy Majestie, Elvenking is the most fun of this collection of Italian metal bands. Maybe not the best, but I love the whole heavy metal reel 'n' roll thing.

And oh, look -- they have a new cd coming out in two days! Nice timing!
