Today's Song: The Sun by Tang Dynasty

One of the surprising things that I discovered on my heavy metal around the world quest this weekend was that some of this stuff wasn't nearly as obscure as I had expected. I would have thought finding a realy heavy metal band in China would be possible, but not nearly as easy as it in fact was. The Tang Dynasty are the "original" mainland China heavy metal band, and have been around for quite a few years. They are mostly a progressive metal band with some traditional Chinese influences. They can be found on Amazon.com, on iTunes, and on Youtube. As I said, not obscure at all. ^_^

Of the videos on Youtube, The Sun is the more relaxed and ballad-like. It seemed like a good introduction to this band, and just because it starts out quiet doesn't mean it doesn't get rolling a bit further in. I don't know what it's about, but I read that their songs are often Nationalistic, so just imagine it's the Chinese equivelant of Bruce Springstein's Born In The USA and you're probably close. ^_^
