Today's Song: Teli enek by Echo of Dalriada
Echo of Dalriada is a Hungarian folk band that I stumbled across on Youtube just last night while doing yesterday's song of the day entry. I've only listened to this song a few times. It's in Hungarian. It's really really good.
Despite having three cds and an ep out, these guys are pretty far off the radar for someone in America. They have a web site, but only in Hungarian. I can't find their music available through even places like The Omega/The End, which specializes in heavy metal from obscure corners of the globe. Gemm.com produces two album hits, but these are from an outfit based in the Netherlands which probably doesn't have the cds on hand, but thinks they can order them from Hungary if I place an order (they are rated at a 59% fill rate on orders -- not so good). That might be my only option for getting ahold of cds by this band, if not for Ebay, which has someone listing the same cds for a bit less (and who certianly has the cds on hand -- in fact it specifies that he has 3 copies available, and they ship from Ohio). Gotta love Ebay!
In the meantime, the band actually has a few mp3 downloads from their web site. These include the above song, which is an amazing folk metal song with symphonic and goth metal overtones. Amazing Hungarian folk metal, amazing female vocalist combined with a very good male (clean) vocalist, what's not to like? So this is why I'm listing them as my song of the day -- I was able to download this tune and put it on my iPod. ^_^ T
