Today's Song: Vapour Trail by Ride

Since I was in a mood to explore, after downloading Iceblink Luck by The Cocteau Twins I decided to download a couple of tracks by other 4AD/Shoegazer bands from the same era. I discovered a lot of these bands in the very early 1990's by watching the late-night MTV show 120 Minutes; some of these bands I bought cds from and got into (Lush, Charlatans, Pale Saints, My Bloody Valentine), and some I didn't (The Cocteau Twins for example, although I'm not really sure why).

Ride was one of those bands that I never really checked out, and maybe I'll never actually own any of their cds. But they made dreamy pop music in the same vein as Lush and the Cocteau Twins. They were one of those "one-word-name" bands, as [livejournal.com profile] skyoxford liked to call them -- Lush, Ride, Swerve, Slowdive, a lot of these bands had names like that. Vapour Trail by Ride is a nice example of this style of music -- technically it's called shoegazer I think, but it has some things in common with dream pop as far as I'm concerned. It's not bad.
