If you listen to This American Life then you may recall that sometime back in August there was an episode that dealt with breaking up. One segment had Starlee Kine trying to write her own breakup song, with the help of Joe McGinty and Julia Greenberg, and with advice from none other than Phil Collins. The song she wrote, The Three of Us, was not (to put it charitably) the greatest breakup song every written. However, they held a contest for people to reinterpret her song in any way they saw fit, and months later posted their winners on their web site.
Because it amused me I went to their web site and sampled all of the winning songs, then downloaded nearly all of them. I eventually left three of them on my iPod. Of those, the version by Roxy Moron and the Bible is my favorite. It's the strangest, goofiest recording of all of them, but it's entertaining. It's good, even.

One of the reviewers called this version "a little Tom Waits", and I suppose he has a point -- I bet
