Today's Song: Run Like Blazes by The Crest

I linked this video before, when I made Fire Walk With Me by The Crest my song of the day. They didn't have a video to link to for that song... but I liked this song too, so I downloaded Run Like Blazes and have been listening to it ever since. Eventually I picked up both of their cds 2001's Letters From Fire and 2004's Vain City Chronicles.

The Crest is a gothic metal band from Oslo, Norway. They remind me a bit of The Dreamside, because both bands favor more of the old-school goth rock sound, sometimes called darkwave. (Probably also because I discovered both of them about the same time.)

I'm not actually sure about the status of this band. Lead singer Nell joined Theater of Tragedy, replacing Liv Kristine (who went on to form her own group Leaves' Eyes, a band I like quite a bit). But the Wikipedia article indicates that their second cd was produced after that, and that they are working on a third cd. They still have the myspace page (linked above) and it has a demo medly of new tunes on it to listen to -- but their web page (linked from Wikipedia and from their Myspace page) does not appear to be working.

Anyway -- I have two cds of theirs, I've been listening to them lately, so this is another song of the day taken from one of the cds on my list of stuff I've bought and need to listen to....
