Exercise:
I've been pretty good lately. The last day I missed was a week ago Tuesday. I even managed about 35 minutes or so on the treadmill on Saturday, before I got ready to head out and pick up Chuck and head to the Tai-Pan meeting. Usually I shoot for 35-45 minutes on the treadmill, or about an hour's walk outside if the weather is nice (which it was much of last week). Sometimes I manage 55-60 minutes if I'm feeling like it.
There are several other people that use the exercise room about the same time I do, and yesterday one of them was using the treadmill and another was on the running machine. Often when that happens I wait until later or don't exercise that night at all, but it was already fairly late yesterday so I used the stair stepper. I was only on it about 20-25 minutes, but it seems like a more vigorous workout than just the treadmill so I felt good -- at least, that was better than not exercising.
Today someone was on the treadmill again, so I went back to my apartment and watched an episode of Red Dwarf, then tried again. Nobody was there, and I used the treadmill for about 40 minutes. I normally set it on a fairly steep incline and at just over 4 miles per hour so it's a decent workout. But tonight, when I was done, I did the stair stepper for another 4 minutes or so, then used one of the weight machines for several minutes, just to extend my workout and get a little more variety. I feel pretty good - I need to do more of that.
Mongolian Folk:
The Hanggai cds that I originally ordered back before Thanksgiving finally arrived today. They were dropped off at the manager's office, where I picked them up. This is strange because the first time they tried to mail them to me they were returned as "unclaimed" but my manager says that they never send anything back and therefore never saw the package. Since the post office didn't hold it this time, I wonder who was holding it last time?
Ah, well. It's here. ^_^
You know, I just noticed... I can download their music from eMusic and iTunes. D'oh! Actually, I'm pretty sure this cd wasn't available back in November -- it looks like a different cd too, with 16 tracks. I should probably grab that with some of my 30 eMusic downloads in February I guess.

Chinese Rock:
Along with the cds I got some postcards... two of which advertise a film called Beijing Bubbles. This is a documentary featuring five underground Beijing bands -- punk band Joyside, girl band Hang on the Box, blues band Sha Zi, rock band New Pants and band T9 which "combines rock with traditional Mongolian music". *Ears perk up!*. I think I need to check this out -- looks like a very interesting film!
Ah (does some research). T-9 was Yiliqi's old band before he formed Hanggai. That makes sense, I knew the founder of Hanggai had been in some sort of rock band previously. They have a cd on iTunes... but the songs sound like rap-funk nu metal. Dunno, maybe I'll download one track to check it out.
Hang on the Box has a bunch of cds on iTunes... hmmm. I may have just discovered the Chinese Shonen Knife. Ha, they have a song called Konnichiwa Tokyo... and one called Your Everything Kills Me. That's an interesting title.
Joyside is on iTunes too. Here's a band raised on Sex Pistols and the Ramones. I like some of their stuff!
Sha Zi isn't on iTunes (no easy access to Chinese blues, darn) but New Pants are. They sound like goofy electronic pop music. (One cd & song is titled "Dragon Tiger Panacea"... you can hear it on their myspace page, it's kinda interesting.)
Hmmmmm... might have to download a few goofy Chinese rock tracks tonight.
