Today's Song: Where the Devil Don't Stay by Drive-By Truckers

This is another of the bands I sampled recently by downloading tracks based on a couple of "best cds of 2006" and "best cds of 2007" lists. Drive-By Truckers play a brand of Southern Country Rock that should be familiar to anyone who ever listened to the Eagles, Lynyrd Skynyrd, ZZ Top, Charlie Daniels Band, and other bands of that sort. They're good.

They've also recently backed Betty LaVette on her most recent (grammy nominated) cd. I have a Betty LaVette cd, she's amazing. I should probably feature her too.

The song I downloaded first is Gravity's Gone from their most recent cd (I think). It's a nice laid back country rock tune. Where the Devil Don't Stay is, on the other hand, very heavy Southern rock. But if the first video is too loud, the second one is an acoustic version.
