(As an aside, Throwing Muses was co-founded by Tanya Donnelly, who is Kristin Hersh's step-sister; Donnelly later quit to join the Breeders which included Kim Deal (of The Pixies) and her twin sister Kelly Deal; afterwards Donnelly former her own band, Belly. All of these bands are pretty well known ^_^ They've all been in other inter-related bands as well.)
So... I downloaded this track from eMusic, and it's pretty good. When they formed the band they promised to release an EP every 9 months, but their second release was the full cd Golden Ocean (which included a couple of tracks from the previous EP -- so it was really an EP dressed up to pass as a full cd for their new label). Their third release was called Free Music EP, and this is because you can download all five tracks for free from their web site. I did exactly that this morning -- it's good stuff. (You can also download three Kristin Hersh solo tracks and three Throwing Muses tracks from the same site).
And via the magic of back-dating my post, I'm making this my song of the day for Thursday, two full days before I was even introduced to the band!
