The Danielson Famile is an actual family of siblings who decided to make music together while quite young. What sets them apart from any other quaint family kid group making music is that they are not only very, very good, but very, very weird. It's a good weird -- a David Byrne kind of weird.
Per Wikipedia: "
Danielson is a band from Clarksboro, New Jersey that plays a quirky blend of indie pop and gospel music. The group consists of frontman Daniel Smith and a number ofvarious artists with whom he collaborates. Smith has also released solowork as Brother Danielson. When joined by his family the band is known as Danielson Famile or Danielson Family, whose members have included Smith; his "siblings Andrew, David, Megan, and Rachel; wife Elin; friends Christian & Melissa Palladino; [and] daughter Lilly". Sufjan Stevens has also recorded and performed with the group.
The band is known for Smith's squeaky falsetto vocals, innovative musical arrangements, and matching nurse uniforms."
Per people on Amazon: "one gets the feeling that they are listening to Perry Farell of Jane's Addiction singing and playing an acoustic guitar around a camp fire at a Christian summer camp," and "Their Lord Did you Hear Harrison is the Stones meet the TV show Zoom on helium!"
Well anyway, I own one cd of theirs, and it's one of the most creative Christian cds I've ever encountered this side of Daniel Amos/Swirling Eddies. Not that you can find these guys on iTunes either (well... 2-3 tracks of them are there... no full cds).
