Dec. 7th, 2002 08:21 pmSo I went to CompUSA and spent money that I didn't necessarily have. It was a light paycheck this week, I've been leaving work eary every night because I get done before midnight, and I also skipped a day when I couldn't get a rental.
Anyway. Since they installed the broadband modem in the front room, I needed a long cable to run to my computer room. 50 feet didn't seem like enough, so I bought the 100 foot cable. That was kind of expensive. Then I bought black and color ink for my printer. That's expensive too. And some more colored jewel cd cases. And a copy of Everquest Gold Edition, which is a massive gold metal box that comes with EQ and all four expansions, all for $69.00. That was expensive too. But I'm an addict and I simply MUST dual EQ as soon as possible, so it was an absolute neceessity. Right?
Of course.
Oh yeah, a 25 foot cable to hook up Tom's computer. Although technically I should have made him buy his own.
And then I forgot the power strip, which I need for the modem and lamp when I get everything assembled... which I can't right now because when I pulled the couch and lamp table out, I had to clean behind them and the heater had fallen off the wall and I can't put it back myself, need someone else to hold it up while I screw it back in, assuming the screws will hold, and when it's back in place the cable modem power plug thing won't fit anymore so as you can see I need a power strip.
So I stopped at Fred Meyers and bought one. And some jeans. And some pop. And some chips.
And I stopped at Ivar's for dinner. Only I forgot the cold pizza in the fridge... oh well, I was in the mood for cajun fish.
So the only question is, should I just plug in my cable modem and go, as the install guy advised? Hmm... couldn't get ahold of Mike or Sky. I didn't try Jeff. I don't think I can wait much longer, and it sounded easy to set up, which it probably isn't really...

Well... if I had a Netgear Router I guess it would have a built-in firewall, but I have a Netgear Hub and I guess it doesn't have a firewall..l as far as I can tell. So I got my cable all strung up from the modem to the hub but I didn't connect it.
I suppose I have to buy a firewall tomorrow. Mike will let me know. ^_^
In other news, Tom went to work last night (11 pm graveyard shift) and I haven't seen him since. He might have slept at his parent's place. He might have gone gaming with his friends. He might have come home and slept for a few hours and then left before 11 am. I don't really tell him where I'm going, and he doesn't really tell me where he's going, but I kind of wonder what's up. He was up early on Friday and after a graveyard shift I would have expected him to come back home and get a lot of sleep.
