Today's Song: Hooligans by the Heart Throbs
The Heart Throbs were one of a group of British bands during the late 1980's/early 1990's who all shared a similar sound that included the Cocteau Twins, Lush, The Darling Buds, and the Pale Saints (most of these on the 4AD music label). They probably weren't as well recognized as some of those other bands and only released 3 full length cds, of which the third, 1993's Vertical Smile, was not even distributed in the U.S. and it took me years to track it down and purchase my own copy.
Their biggest hit was Dreamtime from 1990's Cleopatra Grip, but two of my favorite songs come from their second cd, Jubilee Twist from 1992. The first was Bright Green Day, and the second is this track:
The Heart Throbs -- Hooligans
Strangely enough, none of their cds are avaiable on iTunes, but four of their (very rare) cd-singles are there. That's kind of neat. ^_^
