This song falls into the growly cookie monster vocal melodic death metal category, which I don't expect many of my friends to like much. Even for me, I have a kind of love/hate relationship with this kind of music... certain bands and certain songs I just absolutely fall in love with; other bands and songs I can't even listen to.
Melodic death metal is sometimes referred to as melodeath, or also Gothenburg metal, because the sound originated with several bands from that area of Sweden. Those bands include Dark Tranquility, At the Gates, Carcass, and the band featured here, In Flames.
My favorite songs of this genre have brilliant and very melodic guitar melodies. This song is a perfect example; it's been one of my favorite songs to listen to for about three weeks now.
