I R Teh Clevar!
Apr. 30th, 2008 08:21 pmSo... after trying to get Spacialaudio to e-mail me my password... after trying to log in using the password in an e-mail I had from a long time ago... I visit the forums, read about some registration problems people are having, and decide to contact the tech person who had posted saying he could solve people's problems if they e-mailed him.
In order to PM him, I had to log into the forums.
At this point, I realized that the e-mail mentioned above containing a password was for my forum name and login. So of course it didn't work for logging into the rest of the site.
Then I spent maybe 45 minutes composing an e-mail explaining my problem, during which I wrote a long section about how I thought I might have been given a different registration key, only to remember that no, this didn't happen (I had e-mailed them on March 30 2006 about my registration key not working... and I'd received my registration key on March 30 2006, after my final payment for the product was processed -- which was different from the temp reg key I'd been given before final payment. Naturally. So it wasn't that I'd been given a different registration key from the one in my final e-mail -- I'd just been confused that day because my program stopped working, and I had to insert the new (final) registration key.) So... I deleted all of that part of my PM, then copy and pasted my e-mail containing my registration key, and decided to hit "preview" just on a whim (I don't normally do that) and look over my PM before sending it.
And right there in the e-mail containing my registration key was the password I needed to log into their main web site.
When I logged in, I could easily see where I could download the version I'd purchased, or upgrade to their new version 4 for only $99.00. Which explains why version 4 wouldn't install with my old registration key.
Doh!
Needless to say, I didn't need to send my PM after all, and Sam Broadcaster version 3.5.0 is now installed on my computer, which is all I wanted in the first place.
An ounce of reading comprehension is worth an evening or two of banging your head against a virtual wall in frustration....
