More Cowbell!
May. 5th, 2008 11:15 amI've been listening to the song Brigitte Bardo by Canadian band The Creatures the last week. One review I saw noted the used of cowbell in their music, although I haven't decided for certain if it exists in this particular song.
typographer had mentioned that he has been building a "more cowbell" mix on his iPod as he comes across songs with that nefarious instrument. This, after
eddvick showed us the old SNL skit (which I was already familiar with, but some weren't).
I was listening to PRI's Living on Earth on my iPod today and they interviewed... eh, can't remember his name, a member of the Rolling Stones. Keyboardist, I think. He talked about the first time he ever heard the Stones -- it was when the song Honkey Tonk Woman came out. And he said, "Love that cowbell!"
Anyway, this inspired me to try and come up with a list of cowbell songs for a possible mix. I figured, there ought to be a list somewhere on the internet to help with this. Boy is there: The Cowbell Project
I have a nice list now, and it includes songs I really like from bands like U2, Midnight Oil, Simple Minds, even King's X. ^_^ As well as a lot of really classic rock and roll, of course, and some modern stuff.
