Hmmm. Haven't updated in a long while.
First off, song track listing for the cd I mixed for Sky on Saturday:
(all girl groups or groups with female leads)
1. Cherry Bomb -- The Runaways
2. Born Entertainer -- Veruca Salt
3. Alright Alright (Here's My Fist, Where's the Fight?) -- Sahara Hotnights
4. It's On The Rocks -- The Donnas
5. Land of La La -- Plague of Ethyls
6. Ladykillers -- Lush
7. Wicked Love -- The Skirts
8. Lay Down Your Arms -- The Graces
9. Some song by Feel So Bad, from Across the Rainbow
10. Stay Where You Are -- Sleater-Kinney
11. Take It Off -- The Donnas
12. Nothing Natural -- Lush
13. Edie Is A Sweet Candy -- The 5,6,7,8's
14. Fire Alarm -- Sahara Hotnights
15. Volcano Girls -- Veruca Salt
16. Heavenly Nobodies -- Lush
17. Buggy Life -- Shonen Knife
18. This Man Has Got To Change -- Hearthrobs
19. Too Bad About Your Girl -- The Donnas
20. All Hands On The Bad One -- Sleater-Kinney
21. Officially Dead -- Veruca Salt
22. Runaway -- Lush
23. Strange -- The Skirts
24. Light Rail Cayote -- Sleater-Kinney
Observations:
1. I should have just copied The Donnas, Sahara Hotnights, and The Skirts. I don't know what posessed me to do a mix, which took too much time and made me late.
2. I need to buy another cd by the Donnas, and another by the Skirts. Fun bands.
3. I could have put a better Shonen Knife song on, but for some reason I wanted to pull one from Strawberry Sound, I guess because it's a rare import. But of course, you have a copy.
4. At least I managed to put on a rare Hearthrobs track that you don't have.
5. I wish Lush had never broken up.
6. The Runaways, of course, are one of the original hard rock girl groups, with Lita Ford on guitar and Joan Jett on vocals.
7. I haven't been able to find a good "Greatest Hits of Joan Jett" yet.
8. The Graces are a band formed by Charlotte Coffey after the Go Go's broke up. I think they only did the one albumn.
9. I can't wait for my new 5,6,7,8's cds to arrive.
Okay, now on to comments about cds that Sky has recently lent me or bought me for Christmas:
1. Shane MacGowan's Popes -- Across The Broad Atlantic. Hum. This is a live cd with a lot of Shane's best songs on it, but he's so drunk you can barely comprehend him. And he introduces some of the songs, but you can't understand what he's saying. Funny to listen to, but kind of hard to listen to all the way through.
2. Screamin' Jay Hawkins -- Cow Fingers and Mosquito Pie Ah, now EVERYONE should own some Screamin' Jay Hawkins. He rocks! Lots of fun.
3. Hot Hot Heat -- Make Up the Breakdown I liked some of it but the lead singer's voice annoys me, and some of the later songs got repetetive. But interesting sound otherwise.
4. Porcupine Trees -- In Absentia Okay this was waaaay cool. The King's X influence is VERY strong in some places. Very very good progressive rock. I gotta track these guys down now. ^_^
5. Coralie Element -- Salle des pas perdus Well actually I haven't listened to this one yet.
