Through the Mist that Reigns -- Dark Mirror OvTragedy
Speaking of things that aren't on iTunes, my musical explorations the last few days have turned up a lot of obscure bands that I'd never heard of before and whcih you almost can't buy in the U.S. at all. For example, I came across a Korean "Symphonic Black Metal" band called Dark Mirror ov Tragedy (yes, "ov" not "of"). They sounded interesting enough, but I'm more fascinated by them just because they're so out of place in Korea -- which, like China, is musically all about pleasant pop music. Extreme metal like this just doesn't do well and isn't often seen.
In this case you can actually the cd. You can order all kinds of Korean things (dvd, cd, etc) from a little web site called Mr Kwang. For some reason I instantly fell in love with this site just because, when you click on their "about us" link, it says "mrKwang is the best for Korean culture selling abroad. You know that, I know that, we all know that." Heh. ^_^
They had this band's cd for sale on their web site. The price was reasonable. They said there were a limited number of copies. I know, I'm an idiot, but... I went ahead and ordered it. Probably more because they're a Korean black metal band, and hard to get, than anything. That's kind of why I own a cd by Taiwanese symphonic death metal band Cthonic too. I mean, they're very good, and I like one of their songs quite a bit -- but they're from Taiwan.
