I never seem to have time to update

When God wants you to get up, you get up
I had a dentist appointment to have my teeth cleaned at noon. My first alarm was set for around 10 am or so. I tried to sleep through to my second alarm, set at 10:40 roughly, but apparently GOD did not want me to sleep in, because as I was lying there in bed, half asleep, I suddenly got an intense charly horse cramp in each leg/calf.
I was out of bed and walking around in three seconds. ^_^ My left leg is still sore two days later.
So I drove to Bellevue and had my teeth cleaned. I was still a few minutes late because I spent too much time sitting in front of the computer trying to wake up first. The woman who was to clean my teeth decided I wasn't coming and tried to drive to her bank, but I got there 30 seconds after she left, so she didn't get very far. I apologized, but she said it was no problem. And once again, my teeth are in very good condition. ^_^
Afterwards I stopped by my comic shop and wound up playing a lot of music for Gabriel, the comic guy. Introduced him to Porcupine Trees, Tea Party, and Hem, and played some Feel So Bad for one of his customers. He lent something to me called Sigur Ros, which is some kind of Swedish experimental electronica band or something.
Later I bought some orange juice, on the theory (from Alan) that vitamin c helps prevent charly horses. At least I think that's what he used to say. Anyway. orange juice sounded good.
Keith's Christmas Present Is In Here Somewhere
Tuesday I hit Silver Platters. Technically I have no excuse for doing this, since I've bought several cds in the last month and my finances are not in good order since the holidays (and I still haven't bought anything for most of my very generous friends). Let's see... I'd picked up, recently, Two Towers soundtrack, The Donnas, Sahara Hotnights, 2 Sleater-Kinney cds, and a cd by the Skirts, that I can think of. This is not even to mention that I've ordered several cds online that have not shown up yet.
But I had a gift certificate from Keith, and also Tuesday is the bonus day for silver certificates, which I had a bunch of (like 98). So away I went!
What I picked up:
Heart - Little Queen. I've been meaning to get this on cd for a long time.
The Donnas - Get Skintight. Very fun girl group.
The Toilet Boys - Sinners and Saints. Trashy NY glam-punk group.
Porcupine Trees - Signify. Cool prog metal band.
I'd told some of my friends that the Toilet Boys were a band fronted by a transexual, very much like the fake band in the movie Hedwig and the Angry Inch. Well, that's what I'd read, but the lead singer, known as Miss Guy, is clearly just a guy who likes to dress up. He has a voice that sounds more or less feminine, sort of in the Joan jett range. They're very punk but with a lot of pop flourish, which I like.
So Keith bought me one of those cds. Maybe the Toilet Boys. Wow, can you believe Keith would buy me something like that? ^_^
Later in the week some of the cds I'd ordered arrived. Another cd by the Skirts, who are quickly becoming a favorite of mine. A new cd by the 5,6,7,8's which is way cool because I've wanted dmore from them for many years. And a cd by Letters to Cleo, another great rock band with female vocals. I like them a lot already too.
Also been listening to Peter Gabriel's new cd more. Pretty amazing stuff.
The cd I'm most interested in hasn't arrived yet. It's a collection by two sisters, The Barry Sisters, who were a Yiddish swing group that sang for Yiddish radio in New York in the 40's 50's, 60's. I heard them on NPR, on a show about the heyday of Yiddish Radio. They sound very much like a Yiddish version of the Andrew Sister. Fun stuff! But I've been waiting for the cd to come for two weeks now!
The Car Repair that Ate Cinicinatti
Update on my car: Well, I haven't posted as much about my car in my lj as I thought I had, or wish I had. Trying to nail down some of the dates of when things happened for a letter, and my lj was very unhelpful. I'll probably have to call Peggy at Saturn to verify a few things.
My car was not done by Friday, which I kind of expected. That's how things have gone so far. But will be done Monday, so I'll be driving it then. There was a small snafu where Aurora Collision said that the insurance told them I hadn't paid the deductible, but my insurance agent said they just misunderstood, that the paperwork he sent them showed everything done to the car and showed my deductible but that he and State Farm knew I'd paid it already. And he called Aurora Collision right away and got that straightened out, so it didn't have time to become an actual problem.
