I went a little crazy the other day and downloaded a bunch of songs from eMusic and iTunes based on one person's list of powerpop songs that he liked. It wasn't really so bad, since I get 30 downloads each month on eMusic with my subscription and I already had credit with iTunes from a prepaid card -- so I didn't actually spend any money, or at least, it was money I'd already spent beforehand anyway. ^_^
One of the songs on this guy's list that I didn't have to download was Volcano Girls by Veruca Salt. And he's right, it's a great power pop rock tune. I think I might prefer With David Bowie a bit more (from the same cd), and I'm also a big fan of the very heavy hard rock tune Straight, but you can't deny that this is a great pop rock tune.
The video for it, on the other hand, is pretty silly. But anyway, here it is:
