Today's Song: Clara Bow by 50 Foot Wave

Monday I got a birthday card in the mail, from [livejournal.com profile] dolphinchatter and Juli sans e. Included was a large stack of Silver Platter certificates. Thinking that Tuesday was always their "bonus redemption day", I decided to combine these with the stack I had saved up and go visit Silver Platters on Tuesday.

The Silver Platters in Southcenter is closed now, and I don't live near the one at Northgate anymore. Supposedly there's a new one at Queen Anne that I've never visited, but I decided to head to the Bellevue one. I didn't quite remember where it was, and I drove in circles for a while before deciding to head to the Bellevue Market mall and regroup. Then I remembered that Silver Platters was at the Market mall now.

Silver Platters doesn't do the Silver Certificate thing any more -- now they just give you a card with a bar code and keep track of you in their computer. You still get free cds every once in a while, but there's no saving paper up and there's no bonus redemption day or anything like that. It's all in the computer so you don't really even need the card they give you. They're still accepting the old certificates until the end of the year though, and I had 185 total certificates -- good for about $45.00 worth of cds.

The problem is that you can't get half off of a cd with your certificates, either you get a full cd free or you have to pay for all of it. I picked out 4 cds, but I had to pay for two of them, because after getting the first two for free I had only about $11.50 left over (which they transfered to my card/computer account). So I went back and picked out a cheap cd -- 50 Foot Wave's Golden Ocean.

The other cds that I picked up, not all of which I've opened to listen to yet, are: Ocean Born by Nightwish, the newest cd by Korpiklaani, Tyr's new cd Land, and Midnatsol's new cd. I also picked up 4 used cds at Half Price Books -- Best of the Doors, Tragically Hip's World Container, She Waits For Night by Uncle Earl, and a cd by Canadian power pop band Sloan.

I felt bad afterwards though, because I spent too much money.

And... erf. I just realized that She Waits For Night is the Uncle Earl cd that I already owned... bleh.

I listened to 50 Foot Wave most of this morning. I went for an hour long walk after work. Then I bought a George Foreman grill and cooked some chicken. You know, my sister and my parents convinced me thawt a grill like this makes a lot of sense for bachelor cooking.
