I'm sure I could post a goth / symphonic metal song a day for the next year... but eh. Even though I like the genre, I like a lot of other things, too.
So it goes like this. I was reading reviews for the dark prog metal band Green Carnation on Amazon and some guy said "instead of this, go buy Astronomicon by Without Face (I have, they're a good progressive goth metal band), How To Measure A Planet by The Gathering (I have several Gathering cds, I like them a lot, but I don't have this one yet), or Dies Iae by Devil Doll.
Devil Doll? Who's that? It took me a while to find out, but to make a long story short, it was a weird dark progressive art band of some sort based simultaneously in Italy and former Yugoslavia, orchestrated by someone who called himself Mr. Doctor, and which hasn't released a cd since 1996. But then again, we're talking about a guy who made only one single copy of his first albumn (and kept if for himself to this day), and after handing out 150 copies of his second album, destroyed the remaining 350 copies. He's more than a little weird, but you can check out his music on Youtube if you want to.
But there's also some woman in L.A. who plays weird psychobilly and goes by the name of Devil Doll. And... because "Devil Doll" hits on the psychobilly version and the dark goth version, Amazon also throws up a reccomendation for a band called Horrorpops, which is a Dutch psychobilly band with a penchant for horror.
Strange. And I kinda like 'em:
