So today I went to work... I think I managed to get there on time. That wasn't the case most of the last week.
I had stuff that I'd failed to do on Tuesday to do. On Tuesday I'd had a ton of unbilled bills suddenly dropped in my lap, and I wound up entering 54 bills. For comparison, I stayed two hours late last Thursday to help bill and I'm not sure I entered that many bills. So... I wound up with a lot of stuff that I didn't get done, that I figured I'd get done today.
Phones were very slow. Almost no calls for quotes at all.
Our boss came in late. He said once he was there we could leave early if we wanted. I said that I still had my queue and the HADD file to get through, so that was at least 2-3 hours of work left.
Then customer service told B and I that they had a ton of bills that hadn't been billed and they were all hot and needed to be billed RIGHT NOW so that we could get the freight delivered.
Sigh.
So... I billed 49 bills today. I did manage to get my other stuff done too, but all in all it was a very busy day, considering that most people took the day off and I hardly had to answer any phone calls. And my boss went home 2 hours before I did since he had nothing more to do. :p
After work I did some returns. I decided to brave the day after Christmas crush and get them done and over with. One of them was a cd that my parents bought me from Fye's, that my sister also ordered from me from Amazon. I took that back to the Fye's at the Auburn Supermall... worst part of that was the parking lot traffic. I exchanged it for a cd by Indigenous. I had been thinking of getting Flyleaf or Blackmoor's Night... this is a mall cd store so there are only so many things that I'm interested in that they have in inventory... but when I saw a new Indigenous cd I decided that would be a cool pickup. This is a Native American blues rock band that
inaratalamasca likes... I didn't actually own any of their cds before now, and didn't realize they were popular enough to find at a store like Fye's.
Then I went to Fred Meyer's and exchanged the Trivium (explicit lyrics) cd I'd bought for my nephew (I was able to track down a clean version after, my sister will thank me). I found the Flyleaf cd and I realized that I'd made a good decision earlier because Fred Meyers, of course, has an even MORE limited music selection, but they have Flyleaf. Then, since that cd was a couple of dollars less than the one I'd returned, I spent a LONG time trying to find another cd that I was willing to buy. Boy, their selection is weak -- which is funny because I know Walmart and Target are even weaker. How sad! But I eventually found 2 other cds I was willing to buy -- a new cd by Me First and the Gimmee Gimmee's, and a new cd by Matthew Sweet.
I went with the Matthew Sweet.
Two weeks ago I ordered five dvd's of Strawberry Marshmallow for cheap. At least, that's what I thought I did. Volume 1 showed up and I really enjoyed it, and I was anxious for the others to arrive. Today one package arrived... containing Strawberry Marshmallow the manga volume 4.
I was angry for a second, until I realized that the mistake was mine and anyway, I like manga so owning the manga was also cool. As it turns out there are five volumes of manga out but only three dvds... and the other two dvds are not for sale nearly as cheap as I was able to pick up volume 1 for. The dvds are out of print, so I thought that was why I was getting them for about $5.00 a volume. ^_^ I'd actually ordered volume 1 of the dvd and volumes 2-5 of the manga... so I went back and ordered volumes 2 & 3 of the dvd, and then I ordered volume 1 of the manga... which for some reason wasn't available on Amazon at all, but I found an anime site that had it in stock.
I read volume 4 while I exercised tonight. The funny thing is that in the anime, Nobue starts off by saying she's a sixteen year old high school girl... and then she draws a puff on a cigarette and says, "Nah, just kidding, I'm 20 years old and in college". But in the manga... she's 16. And she smokes. I'm thinking that she's only 20 in the English version of the anime, because a chain-smoking high school girl just wouldn't fly around here.
It's a hilarious series. It reminds me quite a bit of Azumanga Daioh and Yotsuba!
