Today's Song: I Can't Stand the Rain by Eruption
This is a song originally written and recorded by Ann Peebles, but the version I'm most familiar with was a #18 disco hit when I was young by the group Eruption. They were an English disco group with the same manager as Bony M, who recorded perhaps my favorite disco song of all time, Rasputin.
Whenever I think of rain/stormy weather songs I think of this song. I made a list for my iPod tonight of songs about winter and stormy weather. I didn't put this one on because the Eruption version can't be found for download... but this song has been covered many times, including by Tina Turner and by Seal. I may pick one of those. The Seal version seems very nicely done, truthfully much better than the disco version (honestly the disco version is one of the cheesiest of all of these covers -- but it's what I remember). But maybe I should go with the original, which was apparently John Lennon's favorite song ever.
Perfect song for Western Washington & Oregon right now. They call it a Pineapple Express, but I haven't seen any pineapples only rain and more rain. ^_~
