I think I need to set a goal of a certain number of words written each day and force myself to stick to it. For whatever reason I can force myself to write 50,000 words in November for NaNoWriMo, but then I fail to write very much of anything the rest of the year. I have goals of "keep writing" and "write a little bit each day" and "post something in LJ to prove that I've written something" but none of it puts any pressure on me to actually write anything. If I, for example, decided that my goal was 750 words a day, or 25,000 words by the end of January, maybe I'd feel a little more pressure.

I have specific things I would like to get done. If I were writing regularly I could finish all of these within the next year:

1. Finish Girls School. I have 1 chapter left that links the early chapters to the magical girl chapters, and I have a number of chapters to finish up the whole magical girl arc.

2. Work on and finish A Magical Girl in Oz. This is a fully plotted story that has a definite end, and one of my favorite stories that I've ever come up with. I'd like to finish it.

3. Finish I Can See Clearly Now. It only has 1 chapter to go.

4. Work on two other novel-length fanfic stories, Imaginary Knights Dimsdale and that superhero story that I always forget the name of.

5. Finish (this month!) my Christmas story that was supposed to be finished last month.

6. Finish at least a couple of my Tai-Pan stories, specifically Vashti stories that I've been working on forever (or not actually working on that much).

So... step one is to write 1,000 words tonight.
