Today's Song: My Song by Jerry Cantrell

For whatever reason I was never interested in listening to Jerry Cantrell's solo cd, but I heard this song on Pandora radio and I kind of liked it. I added it to my Lala page, and after several listens I grew to like it a lot. Finally I had to download a copy to put on my iPod.

This is the most popular song from his solo cd, and it really does sound a lot like a lost Alice In Chains track. Jerry is apparently one of those guys who only made a solo cd because he couldn't get his band to make another cd with him. And, in fact, Alice In Chains is apparently back together (minus Layne Staley of course). Normally I'd say the singer defined the band and they'll never be the same without him -- and to some extent that's still true -- but Jerry always sang lead vocals on some of their songs. If their new stuff sounds like his solo cd, then it will sound enough like Alice In Chains to pass.
