A long Sunday afternoon

miko2I posted a large chunk of my current stupid fanfiction story to my website yesterday... not complete, but I wrote more on it last night and again today, and it's getting close to being done.
Tom's parents came by. They were headed out to a friends of the library book sale, so I tagged along. I picked up several books, mostly children's books (well, young adult) and mostly to give to my niece and nephew... also got a couple of books set in the late 1800's/Victorian era. Tom picked something very cool though, a dover archive type book containing 8 dime novels with illustrations. :D He said it was for me, Gene, and Sky... so really for the whole gaming group, but for now I own it and Gene only got to look at it for a couple of minutes, hehe.
Afterwards we went back home, and then later went to the houseboat where Tom's parents live part of the time. We ate dinner there, and talked, and played with their cat, who has two one-week-old kittens. Kittens aren't as fun or cute that young as they will be in another week or two... they're still scrawny, unable to walk, unable to see. But the mother cat was more interested in playing with us than in watching over her kittens.
When we left, we stopped at Mike and Gene's place for a short visit, and Mike came to our place to fix Tom's computer and help me network my Linux machine. The first problem Tom had was easy to fix -- his printer didn't work, and that was because it was out of ink. His second problem was that he has some scratch card advertisement/web site thing that has set itself up in his registry and could not be removed... Mike was finally able to remove nearly all of it, but then Tom clicked the wrong buttons and let it all back in, so they're planning to do a reinstall of Windows tomorrow. Wipe the registry, it's the only way to be sure.
As for my Linux machine, Red Hat was too user unfriendly, so Mike plans to install a better Linux tomorrow and maybe it will talk to my Win machines then. :D
I showed Mike the scariest episode of Excel Saga ever, and I also managed to do my taxes... I owe $160.00. Bleah.
