One of my podcasts I just watched is a short bit from Discovery channel's Mythbusters, where they "prove" that the myth of slipping on a banana peel is false.
Except, of course, that the myth comes from a time when a different kind of banana was popular. Big Mike bananas were larger and with thicker skins. That's not proof that you could slip on a single Big Mike banana peel, but if you're going to test the myth, at least do it right.
