Today's Song: Substitute by Clout
So that song I mentioned yesterday that I couldn't even remember the band name? This is it. I bought the 45 for this song back in 78 or so, and I've been trying to remember who did this song for years and years. Isn't the internet a wonderful thing?
Clout was an all-female band from South America who managed to sound an awful lot like ABBA. Their biggest hit was "Substitute" which was a cover of a song first recorded by the Righteous Brothers. As an interesting side note, Gloria Gaynor also recorded this song and released it as a single -- and the b side was "I Will Survive", which of course became a huge hit for her.
