I did order that one Avenue Q soundtrack but otherwise I haven't been tempted to spend money yet. Although I need to hit my comic store for the first time in two weeks.
Tom is on his way to Hawaii right now. I spent part of last night recording some music for him to listen to... Blood Oranges, RL Burnside, Chris Thomas King, Blue Mountain. He asked me to record some countryish/country bluesish stuff. I made a copy of the blues mix cd that I had on writer's night too.
Watched Ghengis Blues last night. Other than that I spent a lot of time downloading manga scanlations again. Five volumes of W Juliet, a few chapters of Read or Die, Random Walk, Gals!, and DNA^2. Some of these manga scanlation groups place stuff right on the web to download, which is convenient, but a lot of this stuff is only traded over IRC. The ones that place manga on the web usually just have their latest translated chapters of whatever they're working on available, but might have full volumes or an entire series of manga available, not hosted at their web site, but hosted on various university student accounts across the country. So for example, while I wsa downloading W Juliet I noticed that Volume 3 downloaded VERY fast, and realized it was a Univerisity of Washington address I was downloading from. The other universities that were hosting other volumes were much slower.
Anyway anyone interested in tracking down some of the online amatuer translated manga should check out Manga Jouhou which lists just about everything that's available and who's translating it and where they can be contacted (web site/IRC channel).
