Nov. 9th, 2003 02:32 amSoooo... I left late in the day to run some errands. Went to Silver Platters, but they didn't have the Yoshida Brothers cd I wanted. This annoys me to no end since Gabriel specifically said that he bought it there.
I was in a bad mood after that. I also couldn't find the Utena dvd that I'm missing at Silver Platters and I wasn't really in the mood to hit Suncoast, partly because I was just in a bad mood and partly because I've never really liked them ever since they refused to take my check several years ago and couldn't explain why. They'll take my check now, but I'm still pissed off at them so I spend my money elsewhere whenever I can.
I wanted to head South on the freeway to Half Price Books, but thre freeway was a disaster. At first I thought this was because of the Husky game (they lost, they're a bunch of losing losers) but that game was in Arizona, so it was just usual stupid Saturday traffic. Anyway I was also almost out of gas which also made me mad. No, there's no real logic involved there. ^_^
I went and got gas, and then used a very roundabout route to get to Half Price Books while avoiding the freeway. Half Price wasn't bad. I picked up several things of interest, but the best find was "Far From Home" by Golden Bough. I think I own this on lp, but I only own one of their cds on cd, and their stuff is SUPER hard to find these days. I was very happy, and it was only $4.98. ^_^
I also picked up two volumes of Wish, a Clamp manga. $5 for each of those.
And then I found some Oz books also for $4.98 each. These are the original series (the 14 written by Baum) which I already have, but what I have are mass market paperbacks by Del Rey, and these are trade paperbacks, much larger, and by another publisher. What's neat is that I'd found two of the fourteen books in this format and bought them last year, but that was all I could find at any of the Half Price Bookstores in the area. Well suddenly the U-District store has most of the fourteen books in this format. I didn't want to blow a lot of money and buy all of them, but I went ahead and bought four. That gives me six in this much nicer format, and eight to go. ^_^
I dug around in my coat pocket as they were ringing everything up, and managed to come up with a 15% off coupon that I got from my Half Price calendar which is hanging on the wall at work. I wasn't sure I could find it, and I wasn't sure it was still good, but it was good until the 26th of November, so I used it. And a good thing, I spent about $50 as it was. Anyway, that's the only time I've managed to use one of those coupons in the last two years I think. The only other time I remembered and had one on me, they were having a store-wide 20% discount so it was irrelevent.
After that I doubled back to Fred Meyers and bought some new pillows, which I've desperately needed to do for a while now. Then I got dinner at Subway and pretty much wasted the rest of the evening. Tom wanted to play Toontown so we did some of that.
