yesterday's PVP was appropriate for Sky and J'wyl. ^_^

Christmas was good, if you consider a house full of screaming kids good. I like my nieces and nephew. They like me. They're very cute, and I'm glad that I don't have to be around them very often. So sue me, I'm a scrooge, I'm a grumpy old uncle, I like peace and quiet and to be by myself to read or watch television or whatever without being disturbed. I'm glad my two sisters have two kids each, so that I don't have to ever have any. ^_^

Actually on Monday I spent the whole day in the back room while my nephew was in the front room playing video games. Nobody else was home for several hours, and we didn't disturb each other once. As long as we have seperate televisions we get along swimingly.

Presents: My nephew LOVED the cd I made for him. It didn't even matter if he liked the songs I added to the end or not, because he just skips to his favorite tracks, then plays them again. But I did good on that one.

I'd bought a set of heart necklaces and bracelets for the oldest niece -- 12 different heart-shaped semi-precious gemstones, and necklaces and bracelets to put them on. I'd bought a puzzle book for the middle neice, but this wasn't very expensive and wasn't an expecially loveable present so I also picked up a very cool red fox stuffie for her from Top Ten Toys (they have the very best stuffed animals anywhere). This was a very good decision, as she looked at the puzzle book and then set it aside, but was in love with the fox immediately. Of course, the older niece noted that I'd only got her one present to her cousin's two. Grrr. She didn't act that thrilled with what I got her for her birthday either... I think she has me marked as the goofy uncle that doesn't buy very good presents, or something. I'll have to remember that when her birthday comes around.

I'd also bought two magic wands that flashed brightly in multiple spinning colors and made a magic sound. These were pretty cheap, I got them through a fund raiser order form at work, and I'd been worried that I should have bought three, even though my youngest niece is not even two years old. But wouldn't you know it, she grabbed one of them and carried it around for the next hour or two. I probably SHOULD have bought three of those things. My other nieces had a lot of fun with them too.

I played flux with my oldest niece. She liked that a lot and I left the game with them so they could play it some more. I spent 2-3 hours playing with her, so maybe that made up for not having given her three presents or something. ^_^ I also left the milkshake machine with my sister (the one I got at the white elephant exchange at work). I wasn't really certain that my sister would want it -- I mean, I have a really nice blender that I can make milkshakes with, so the idea of a milkshake machine struck me as somewhat silly. But my sister has two kids and as it turns out, no blender. She was really happy to have the milkshake machine (as were her kids, of course).

I had asked for three things for Christmas, and for once I didn't get something other than what I'd asked for. You know how that goes -- ask for a very simple am/fm cassette radio, something you can carry to work easily and put on your desk, and instead your parents decide that what you really need is a massive cd boombox that is almost as much trouble to transport as your home stereo system, and which takes up half your desk at work. (This did happen to me one year). Or you ask for a specific type of socks that you really like, and people buy you a lot of generic socks that are not what you want and aren't comfortable.

So: I asked for a new suitcase. I wanted something no larger than the one that I currently had, which was quickly falling apart. My sister got me a new suitcase, the right size, and much, MUCH, MUCH better built than any that I've ever owned. It's fantastic!

I asked for a simple am/fm digital clock radio. It had to be small enough to fit on the headboard of my bed, and it had to have numbers that you could read in the dark. My other sister got me a very nice radio, everything I asked for and it sets itself. She told me it would be obsolete when they got rid of daylight saving's time, and I said that as far as I knew they'd talked about expanding daylight savings time, but nobody has talked about doing away with it. She said that was probably what she'd heard, she just didn't remember the details of the story.

Third and finally, I'd asked for a new electric razor. I specifically wanted a Panasonic razor. This was because I've never been very impressed with Norelco or Braun for whatever reason, and after owning 3 different Remingtons, I long ago became convinced that they were trash because each one fell apart and or died within two years. Then I'd bought a cheap Panasonic which lasted forever, and replaced that with another Panasonic which lasted forever (forever being 4-5 years, very good for an electric razor given how I treat them).

My mother got me what appears to be the current top-of-the-line Panasonic razor. I was a bit surprised, because I knew a lot of places didn't carry Panasonic razors (I'd looked). Turns out she just went online, typed in "Panasonic" and then orderd what came up. Which, when it arrived, turned out to be a lady's razor. So then she had my dad send that back and do the ordering the second time around. ^_^

It was a good weekend. I watched too much Court TV and A&E and Discovery Channel, when football wasn't on.

It used to be that when I visited my parents I got the whole downstairs, with my own bathroom and relatively private access to the hot tub. Then they moved, and I got the small secondary bedroom with no access to the hot tub, and with a bathroom across the hall. Then my parents moved into the small bedroom, and now I'm in what used to be the master bedroom, with a private bathroom and access to the hot tub, but which also serves as the family/television room when everyone else comes over. And this time around, they were remodelling the hall bathroom so my "private" bathroom was constantly being used by everyone else.

I like my privacy. I think I'll like living alone again, although it's more expensive. It might be fun to get a cat again though.
