Saturday I got up around 10 am and managed to go out on my morning walk and get back by noon. After a shower and... I don't know what else, breakfast, some important goofing off... I managed to leave around 2 pm or so and head up to Foolscap. This was a much smaller con than I realized... only 200 people tops. I knew it was small, but I didn't realize it was quite that small. The good news was that parking was easy and free, and I decided to opt out of actually paying for the con since I didn't really plan to do much while I was there. And I didn't -- I hung out in the hallway around the Tai-Pan table, wrote on all three of the round robin stories that were there, and picked up a copy of The 10% Solution, a very good book on writing/editing (mostly editing).

[livejournal.com profile] chuck_melville left early and [livejournal.com profile] genebreshears was heading straight home, so [livejournal.com profile] dolphinchatter and I had a nice dinner in the bar lounge in front of the hotel. Keith had a burger, I had two crab cakes and a salad with steak strips. It was pretty good. The drive home was nice, with the sun beginning to set, and driving around the edge of the lake. It reminded me that I live in a spectacular place.

Sunday I stayed up late and slept in, and decided not to go back to the con. I knew there wouldn't be much happening there anyway. Keith called to ask if I'd seen his canvas con bag with his iPod in it, then called back to say he'd found it, then called back two or three more times to check up on the score of the Seahawks game. Last time I talked to him, it was the 4th quarter and the Seahawks were ahead 42-10, the Giants having just scored a touchdown. They went on to score three more in the next six minutes or so... but the Seahawks still won of course, 42-30.

I even managed to get my hour walk in before the game started. The last two weeks, I didn't manage that, and so missed part of the game when I went out for an hour walk during a thirty minute halftime. Overall I think I've done pretty well on my "walk an hour a day" program, although during the last week and a half when it was raining I had several days where I only managed a half hour or 45 minutes of exercise inside my apartment. I did however manage to walk an hour at least every day after one where I failed to get a full hour in... and I also used the apartment exercise room once to walk on the treadmill for an hour. Which is even more boring than walking back and forth in my apartment, but probably produced a better, more sustained workout.

I went to the grocery store tonight. I was thinking of stopping by Athens Pizza to pick up a gyro on the way back, but instead I got a bbq pepper chicken breast and fried that up at home, with some frozen veggies. I bought two bags of frozen veggies... that seems like a cheap and easy way to have veggies around when I need them to add to a meal, easier to deal with than buying raw vegetables which sometimes spoil before I manage to use them. The chickent breast was only $1.19 too, a good price for what was a very tasty meal.

I realized later that I had meant to buy some of those fat-free ice cream sandwiches, which would have been nice to have after dinner. Oh well, some other time!

Did laundry, did dishes, watch Extreme Home Makeover. Took out the trash. I had some other plans but don't know if I'll get to them tonight. But it's been a pretty good weekend.
