Jun. 25th, 2009 09:07 amI had a Costsco card three years ago. Partly I signed up because they came to work so it was convenient, and they gave out extra goodies -- I still use the Costco tote bag they gave me every single work day, I carry cds and my little radio in it. But I rarely used it. The closest Costcos to me were in Southcenter and Federal Way -- close, but not nearly as close as Fred Meyers. So after a year I let it lapse.
This Spring, about a year after I'd allowed my membership to lapse, I signed back up again. Initially I wasn't going to, but they offered a $10.00 credit so the overall cost was less... I decided it might be a good deal. Also there was a new Costsco in Covington that was closer to my house, although I didn't know how to get there at the time.
Three months later, I still had not visited a Costco. I decided to look up the Covington store and find out how to get there. It was only about 4.5 miles from my house, but East and North of me, in a direction I'd never driven. So it was a bit of an adventure.
I found the Costsco. I went to the Membership services area to get my new card. As it turned out, their entire computer network was down -- not just the one store, but all other stores in the area. They could do nothing to help me and I wasn't even able to shop at the store, unless I wanted to pay cash.
Bleah. :p
